The Brief

Multi-award winning Gordons is one of the UK’s most successful law firms. They needed a website to capture the firm's ethos of a "different kind of law firm". The website would need to represent the breadth and depth of the firm's expertise whilst emphasising their values of delivering straightforward, practical legal advice.

The visual brand re-fresh was only half the challenge. The firm also wanted to add value to their website visitors by having interactive online legal tools and making a custom version of the website available to mobile users. The mobile site had to have an app-like feel but be available to all modern mobile web browsers.

The Design

The design was intrinsically lead by the firm's bold and memorable 'G' logo. The strong colours and dynamic movement were to feed into the whole website design. The logo's brand colours were used on gradients and user interface elements throughout the website to create a wholly unique visual experience. Consistent use of colours helps the user quickly and easily identify various pieces of information around the website from key contacts to client case studies.

A mobile-optimised version of the design was created for exclusive use by smartphone devices. The same dynamic imagery and colouring were retained but modified to suit smaller screens. Animated pop-out menus compliment the already engaging design to ensure that mobile users have quick access to key information when on the go.

The Technology

To bring the Gordons' vision to life Calls9 used the open-source content management system WordPress. The system enables Gordons to quickly and easily update content across their website without the need for technical skills.

Calls9 built custom functionality that enabled the firm to offer online quotes for residential conveyancing work. Users are able to specify details about their property transaction and receive automatic quotes via email. This has been a popular feature and a real differentiator from the firm's competition.

Finally, we built a bespoke experience for mobile users which makes it easy to contact a lawyer from Gordons or find office location details while on the move. We also added the interactive quote calculator to the mobile version of the site.

The Results

The new Gordons website truly embodies the principle of a "different kind of law firm". A strong visual identity defines the website and helps users navigate content in an intuitive way. Interactive online quote functionality paired with a custom mobile experience adds significant value to website visitors.

It is quick and easy for Gordons staff to update the website with new articles, images and lawyer information. The website has thousands of articles which form the basis of a news archive that draws visitors to the website. A strong focus on adding value to website visitors has resulted in a website that stands out from the crowd.
