Your role

Responsible for driving innovation in our products and services using your extensive back-end experience. Really making a difference by consistently innovating and pushing boundaries, utilising best-in-class human behaviour, thinking, designing and engineering to create tangible outputs for customers and to shine above our competition.

Having a team first attitude, collaborating and bringing out in each other to succeed, by creating, adding and improving our products and services, enhancing capability and usability directly for all our customers.

Your experience, essential

  • Commercial back-end development experience working with the Symfony PHP framework 
  • Experience in object-oriented programming with PHP 7 and above.
  • Understanding of the SOLID principles and software design patterns.
  • Extensive knowledge of RESTful principles
  • Experience in consuming data from third-party APIs
  • Experience with MySQL and designing database schemas
  • The ability to help turn business requirements into functional technical requirements.
  • A rigorous approach to testing where necessary (e.g. PHPUnit, TDD, end-to-end testing)
  • Good Apache and nginx knowledge
  • Composer – Dependency Manager for PHP
  • Strong working knowledge of Git and GitHub
  • Proficient working with terminal commands
  • Experience within a digital agency/technology consultancy environment delivering projects for clients.
  • Comfortable attending customer meetings and communicating with customers directly

Your duties & tasks

  • You will be actively involved in shaping, estimating and delivering client solutions, suggesting innovative applications of technology to solve client needs working closely with front-end design and solutions development teammates. 
  • Working on the evolution of our proprietary technology products and applying them to client projects you will learn and understand the current systems and codebase within the business from the current team and help us to build and deliver our future product roadmap
  • Support the wider Calls9 development team
  • Work closely with our Project Managers to ensure high quality customer delivery
  • Improve and build coding systems to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the codebase
  • Burn down a combination of customer tasks and internal tasks based on priority
  • Ensure the smooth final delivery and go live of your specific projects as required
  • Have the ability to step into the shoes of any of the development team for customer-facing activity (including attending customer meetings / communicating directly with customers when necessary)
  • Offer help to continuously improve our development and project delivery methodology
